Obama quartet admits faking performance at inauguration – Times Online
Deep down I suspected this was true because it just sounded too good to be a live performance in such cold weather. I don’t want to know it was a recording. I want to cling to the illusion.
I’ll get over it. Sigh.

If you’ve ever played a stringed instrument outdoors you’ll appreciate why they did it. This was one gig where it had to be perfect and it sure wouldn’t have been if the musicians couldn’t feel or move their fingers.

Actually, I played violin for 8 years as a child so I do appreciate why it was necessary. I just loved the illusion too much.

It surprised me, although the beauty of the music and the moment were wonderful – some things shouldn’t be shared with the masses and, for me, this is one of them. Too bad they didn’t lipsync the swearing in!
