Amid the Chaos of War, Gifts of Music – washingtonpost.com
This is a great story I stumbled across while reading the paper earlier this week. I truly can’t imagine what it’s like to be a soldier in Iraq but I know what a solace music can be. Kudos to Steve and Barb Baker from Fergus Music, in Fergus Falls, Minn!

Hello,
I am Joseph, a third time deployed soldier in Iraq, was here during the 2003 invasion, and seems like I get short breaks back to the states. 1st deployment 13 months, 2nd was 12 months, this one is 15months, with my fourth already scheduled for 2010, maybe only 12. I love music, and a guitar would be a great stress reliever, in a place where there is always some kind of stress, and very, (emphasis on VERY) limited resources to vent. Anything you coulddo regards helping, would be very appreciated.

Hello,
My name is Amanda. My husband is currently on his second deployment to Iraq. He asked me to send him a guitar to Iraq because he’s always wanted to learn to play and he had some friends that would love to borrow it and teach him to play. We have 3 kids all born while their father was deployed and now with Adam and I are pregnant with our first baby together and it is also going to be born while my husband is deployed. With 3 children and one on the way things are really expensive and sometimes hard to even get to the post office. We were looking for some help. I would like to get a guitar out to my husband for Christmas but as I stated before funds are tight. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated! I know this would bring great joy to my husband and his fellow soldiers. One of our friends that is over there with my husband used to write Christian music and sang for big audiances. He is one of the people willing to teach my husband and I’m sure if the rest of the guys heard his music it might lift their spirits some.
Thank you again so much, even if it’s just taking the time to read this!
